Corrupt profiles… tip/ plus ??

We have noticed lots of Windows 2000 profiles getting easily corrupted. Yes! we back them up, then have user log on and recreate one.
What’s up with this? Many different issues can be solved with this in IE,Outlook, you name it.
Nice tool, but I am wondering what’s hosing these profiles?Internet and apps can eat profiles for lunch!! Any one with some insight! Do we have to move these profiles and recreate all the time or is there something to help with discovering what is wrong with the corrupt profile???
