corrupt registry and repair and cd/dvd player

i have a similar problem as oliver_ricken but my problem goes a little deeper my cd/dvd player is not recognized by the registry…I’ve tried everything, like system restore, best lask known, uninstalling the cd/dcd player, letting the plug and play find it, uninstall drivers, update drivers…i get a corrupt file in the registry code 19… it does not recognize my cd/dvd. how do i reinstall xp pro to rectifi this problem, if can, if i cant get the cd/dvd player working…
