Corrupted Password

I changed my admnistrator password on Windows NT workstation 4.0 – file system NTFS, and it was accepted. However, after rebooting, it locked me out of the system. The password contains a pipe (|) which I understand is not allowed. How can I fix this without rebuilding?.
The other user on my system doesn’t have administrator access.
