Crashed Hard drive Win XP

Installed Linksys PCI adapter & Broadband router w/ reltaed software. after reboot win XP came up once but mouse and keyboard were frozen. forced to shut it down. start up and wind stating due to imporper shut down or hardware software changes choose a mode….Safe mode options and Last Known Good and then of course normally windowns option. If i choose any of teh option with safe mode or LKG then i get a window full of some kind of hard disc(0)harddisc(1)win32/drive.sys errors or soemthing then nothing so i reboot then i choose normal and then it jus shows the WIN XP windown trying to load for hours. So i am sure it is crashed but i need stuff off that hard drive. How do i retrieve them? what do i need to do it?
