crashed PC

I believe that I have a fried motherboard on one of my systems. I want to take the hard disk out and put it into a working Win2K Pro machine, in order to attempt data recovery off of the hard drive. I plugged the drive into the new system and set the jumpers accordingly. Upon boot up, the system crashes.

Any ideas?
