crazy printer problem

by byteside . Updated 21 years, 11 months ago

I have a crazy printer problem. I have a small peer to peer network of 5 computers set up on a wireless router that is conected to a domain network. The 5 computers have lots of restrictions set on them so they can not access the domain network. (I did not set the restrictions an outside party did, but we asked for the restrictions) One of the restrictions is not able to get into control panel or use run. I needed to install a new printer on the peer to peer network using a USB cable connected directly to the first of the 5 computers and set it up to be shared. Needed to be logged in as administrator on all computers to install printer. Once printer was installed, as administrator, all computers printed fine. Reboot all computers and now only the first computer, where printer is directly connected, prints properly. The other 4 print garbled text and wont print in color. Also noticed while these 4 printers were logged in as administrator, the printer Icon does not show up in the printers folder in control panel. They did print right while logged in as adminitrator but I can not leave them logged in as administrator as all the restrictions would be useless. Software was installed on all computers. Running w2k pro. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
