cut & paste from Word to DOS ?

Is it possible with Windows (98,ME,2000) to mark text from a texstfile or Word or an Internetpage, copy or cut, and then paste it into an MS-DOS prompt window?
My Linux (Mandrake 7.2) can, and it is so convenient to paste, say an IP adress into theDOS window, for example to use ping.
Anyone know how to do this?
