My brother called me the other day, and needed help, he has a 233, running windows 95 for some reason, and Explorer is crashing on him. He said he installed the Bluelight.com service, and then it died. I asked him to read me autoexec.bat, (which there wasn’t one, so walked him through turning autoexec.old into .bat) also looked through other things. had him pull up bootlog.txt, he said there were a whole bunch of failures, all fonts failing to load. told him how to make a 95 boot disk, he booted to dos, dir/p’d and found out windows\fonts dir is missing. I told him ‘md fonts’ and for some reason it didn’t work. mkdir fonts also a no go. so then I was stuck. I asked him to dir and tell me how many files/space/dir. not too many. Anyone know of another way to create a dir without being in the GUI? so he can copy the fonts off of his other 95 machine into that machine. (gotta love sneaker net). Any suggestions would be gladly appreciated. His other machine is a laptop, so slaving won’t work, and he’s far far away, so he can’t borrow one of my machines.
