Dail-up Networking

I have a machine running w2k professional Dail-up networking was not working properly I have deleted the dail-up connection to the ISP and entered a new connection to the ISP when I go to dail-up 2 things happen. First the dail-up connection pop-up comes up with the values already filled Name Password number but the password is wrong I have gone into internet options connections and changed the password to how it should be but it reverts back to this other one which is wrong I cant save a new password as again it reverts back if I take the name and password out and leave it blank I can fill it in whenever I want to connect to the internet but this is a pain also when I connect to the internet it connects then when using Internet explorer after around 2-3 minutes it drops the connection??
