DC doesn’t recognize MS Exchange Objects

by snarayanan . Updated 24 years, 9 months ago

my network has two DCs and one member server. I did a forestprep, domainprep and installed e2k on the member server. The
entire installation went without a glitch.

However, after an hour later I opened the Active Directory Users and ComputersMMC(ADUC)in one of the DCs and expanded to
include advanced features. There I saw an icon representing ‘Microsoft Exchange System
Objects’. The icon was white and had windows logo in the middle. In the rightpane, I saw bunch objects related to e2k (i.e. Offline addressbook, schema, StoreEvents{xxx-xx-xxxx-xx}). There was SystemMailbox{xxxxx-xxx–xx} object, which was diabled(red color circle with a white X in the middle). Then I went to the e2k server and opened the e2k system manager andexpanded the Microsoft Exchange System Object folder, I saw same objects as in DCs, but now the icons seems to be normal.

Moreover, if I rightclick on a user in DC, I dont see an option for ‘Exchange wizard'(to enable the user for mailbox). If Iright click on a user at the e2k server, I get the option “Exchange wizard’.

From the articles, it seems that I should able to mail enable users from any DC. Since Forestprep and domainprep went without any problems, I am not sure where the problem is?

Thanks for the help.

Sam
