dcpromo failure

i am installing the first server in a new forest/domain. its is not connected to any network. during installation, i agreed to windows installing the dns.
after the installation, i ran dcpromo, but it gets to a stage and stops. it give a message that says can not connect to network.and dcpromo cannot continue
