DDE Not Responding

When shutting down a Windows 98 machine, I’m getting a message that the DDE Server is not responding, I need to end the task in order to shutdown the machine. Does anyone have any ideas what I could check to resolve this. This message comes up evenif you just boot up the system and go to the internet and then shutdown. Thanks for any ideas. Terri
