dead motherboard?

by cmicaletti . Updated 19 years, 4 months ago

I was preparing a PC for an upgrade to Vista Premium. Replaced a 128MB video card with a new 256MB video card, added an additional 512MB of RAM to original 512MB of RAM and added a new 400W power supply after the last one failed a month ago. PC booted up correctly after installing the new components, recognized the new 1GB of RAM, found new Nvidia video card however did not prompt me for the drivers. Went into device manager to see if device was working properly, but noticed a RAID controller was listed under other devices with the yellow exlamation point warning. Double clicked on the RAID controller and made the mistake of clicking the “reinstall drivers” tab. System then shut down completely and now when I power it on, the blue case light flashes, the fans attempt to spin up for 1/2 a second but that is all. Hard drives do not spin up, no beeps, no other activity except for red LED on motherboard comes on. Hold in power button for a few seconds and motherboard LED turns off. Turn power back on and same thing happens. Did I fry my hard drive? Or did I possibly fry my motherboard? Please help!
