Deleted files on NT server

We have WAN all NT servers as PDC as well as BDC. When user logged in to a domain their login script map network drive such as F: as user home directory.

When users delete file from their F: drive or any other network drive we could not find it on user workstation or on the server recycle bin. Where does it go?

When we had Novell we used SALVAGE and restore the file or directory without a problem. Could you please solve this mystery for us with out restoring from the backup tape?
