Deleted items reappear on desktop

I have a small network consisting of a Linux Samba server acting as a domain controller and a couple Win98SE workstations. On my main workstation, frequently when I delete something from my desktop, it reappears the next time I login. Even if I empty the recycle bin. As near as I can tell the files are only delete from my local desktop but arent deleted from my Home directory on the server. But why is this happening and how can I fix it?
