Determining a Clients Product key withou

I have customers that sometimes loose their Microsoft manual and have totally wasted their drive so I can not get to the registry entry under the normal way. It would be helpful to be able to locate the Product ID on the Clients CD. There must be a file in one of the CABs ie Precopy CAB or another one that holds the Product ID. Any suggestions
