device manager

My new PC, 2.8 P4, dual 160GB HD,dual DVD Burners shows two of everything in device manager. Two IDE Primary,two IDE Secondary, two monitors, two graphics cards. System is constantly pausing and locks up during the most simple games. Any ideas?
