Dial-in problems using RAS and WINNT

Does anybody know why you can ping an address in your subnet with a WIN98 machine but when you dial from a WINNT machine you cannot ping anything in the same subnet. I use RAS to dial-in and both machines are configured correctly to run in the same subnet. The equipment is the same on both machines. The only difference is that one is running WINNT and the other is running WIN98.
Any ideas? Thanks.
