Dialup networking problems….

by tchieng . Updated 22 years, 10 months ago

I have a couple of users who frequently travel. A RAS server has been setup for their access. It is based on a Win2k server with a 4-port comtroll rocket modem. These guys have no problems connecting to the server from hotels or any place, except the “crown” rooms at the airports. In these crown rooms, there are AT&T phones. On the side of these AT&T phones, there is a plug for your phone or modem cable to be plugged into. When they connect through this port, they get a dial tone and can dial. The modem will make it’s negotiation noise, but it never connects. The guys are using Win2k with 3com modems. There is no phone jacks nor ports on the wall, only through the phone. We have lowered the modem connect rate on the dialing PC, but it still dosen’t connect. Does anybody know what I’m talking about? Can you tell me what might possibly be going on here? Going through these AT&T phones seems to be causing some signal loss or interference and giving them grief about not being able to connect. Anybody have any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks
