Differen’t versions of MS-SQL

Is it possible to have a client connect to two differn’t SQL servers, that are on differen’t machines, and the SQL server’s are differen’t versions(6.5 & 7.0) and have the client connect to both at the same time, and use differen’t programs to access the differen’t servers seperatly?
