Difficulty Logging Off or Shutting down

I have a server with NT 4.0 sp6a running Exchange 5.5 sp4. When I attempt to either log-off or do a reboot, I often get a process notice that the process: “OleMain ThreadWndName” did not respond and I must use ‘end-task’ in order for the command to execute. Any body know how I could fix this?
