direct cable connection

i want to make a direct cable connection using parallel port between a PC with wunXP(host) and laptop with win98(guest).
Problem : when the connection is made between the two pc’s, that one of winXP see the connection as “unauthenticated user”, andthat of win98 ask me for a password to view the host, even i didn’t enter a password for this connection, and i tried to alter many password options and security options but all fails..
please help me it is important.
