Direct3D not enabled w DirectX8 / TNT2

Have a Win2k Pro machine, with a 933 p3, 128mb ram, and an old TNT2 32 mb video card. Before I upgraded to Directx8, the direct3d worked. Afterwords, it isn’t even an option, as the button is grayed out in the directx config under system information under tools. When testing the direct3d, system freezes, and ya havta reboot. Weird huh? Turbo, or 4x agp isn’t on, could this be it (I say no) and if a reinstall with 7.x direct x for now until I get a G Force is the answer, then I have no probswith that, just found it kinda weird. Any help, fellow Pro Gamers?
