Disable FindFast?

An answer to my question about Word 6 suggested disabling FindFast to speed up closing files.
This may be a dumb quastion but how do I do this?
The icon in Control Panel does not have any delete buttons that I can activate (highlighting and pressing “delete” doesn’t work either).
