Disappearing Dial-Up Networking Connecti

On laptop with Win2000 Pro, I create a dial-up networking connection, name it, and make it available to all users. Shortcut appears on desktop for all users. Use shortcut to connect to network. Log off. Log back on and attempt to use dial-up networking connection. Receive message that it does not exist. Unable to find evidence of its existence other than icon on desktop.
