Disappearing or hidden printers

I have a windows 2000 network running Windows 98 clients. I have a few machines that all of sudden can not see the printers. If you open the printers window the only thing you see is the Add Printer icon. If I try and reinstall the a printer it tells me it is already installed. Does anyone have any ideas?
