I have a 2000 machine set up in a work group. Yesterday the user told me that every time she attempted to logon she got a error message stating that she would only be given a temporary logon. The machine was also moving very slowly.
A check of the error logs showed me a bad block errors each time the user logged on.
A check of the profile folders showed her profile was renamed at kelly.bat.
Running the disk repair tool at startup solved the problem and copying the contents of kelly.bat into the newly created profile retuned her settings.
My questions are
1. is it possible to get back her email if no .pst files can be found on the system ?
2. DOes the bad block errors indicate that the hard drive will inevitably fail ?
