Disconnectivity of internet connection

I’m running on HP Omnibook Win98 and using 3Com internal built-in modem.My internet connection frequently disconnect after connection about 2 to 3 minutes.I had tested on other PC and laptop as well and the connection is working fine.Any idea or recommended methods to troublshoot.
