Divide Overflow Error

NEC 330T Laptop, 266Mhz, W98 SE
When i boot up i am getting the error “your program caused a divide overflow error.
Have not added software or hardware for over two
years. Has been working fine. A drive is external
and i placed a boot disk in drive A try to override the problem. I cannot acccess the system
to explore problem.
