DNS name resolution on an NT network.

Can a pure NT 4.0 network perform name resolution without WINS and broadcasting. If DNS server is properly configured, can the NT4.0 network perform name resolution solely with DNS ? If so, how can I be certain resolution is occuring only by DNS ?
