dns win 2000

i created pdc for win 2000 but they just told me that they already have pdc and dont need another pdc. so they want me to set up parent domain. i alreaty created that and restart that compuer. will i put the win 2000 server cd into the pc and boot up then have to reinstall correct? pls give me step by step process.
