domain controller on a stand alone serve

by anastasio . Updated 23 years, 5 months ago

Hi!

i have a dell poweredge 1400 server running windows 2000 server and about six windows clients (win98, mellenium, win2k) in a peer to peer network with access to internet via a dsl line, and i would like to upgrade the server to a domain controller to manage the network from a centralized point. however, in order to upgrade the server to domain controller, i have to install windows 2000 active directory. i have, in the past, installed win2k active directory at work where we have DNS server and static ip addresses. do i have to have a DNS server and static/dynamic ip address to install active directory? if not, what do i need to do to configure active directory once i install it?
