Domain Name Resolution

by dreozz . Updated 24 years, 8 months ago

I have over 2000 domain names that my company has purchased
I am working with Win2k server. For the time being I do not want to integrate DNS into my existing internal network. Everything I seem to read on DNS is about integrating DNS into an existing NT Domain/Active Directory?. Is it possible to set up a DNS server to exclusively resolve Internet Domain Names to IP address?

I have registered to name servers with the SRS
Ns1.imaginary.com & NS2.imaginary.com
I would like to create records for the following names
www.oneofmany.com
www.oneofmany2.com
www.oneofmany3.com?..etc.

The name of the Win2k server I am working with is called TestServer and participates in a local Win NT4 Domain called Gem

I have DNS set up but have not yet configured it.
Question Under Forward Lookup Zone what zone would I create? Does it have to be named anything specific, or can I just arbitrarily choose a name?

For the 2000+ domain names I have, would I have to create individual zonesor would I just create a Host record under the Forward Lookup Zone?

Do I need to create a PTR for each of the domain names?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
