domain password supplied is incorrect

by kaisersose . Updated 24 years, 6 months ago

We are getting intermittent occurances of the following error message when users log on to a Windows 95 machine – The domain password you supplied is incorrect or access to your logon server has been denied. We’re also seeing problems with unlockingof NT 4 machines – there’s a time delay of up to 10 minutes between pressing CRTL-ALT-DELETE and the appearance of the logon box. These problems don’t occur everytime a log on or unlocking is tried but do occur intermittantly.
We’ve enabled auditing on all our domain controllers and have gathered that when the error message occurs on trying to logon to a 95 machine there is no message logged to the event log on the server.
We have a backbone network of Cat 5500 Switches (8 in all) and we believe that a network error may be the cause as there doesn’t seem to be any contact made with the domain controllers when the message is received.

Any insight or help on this is much appreciated.
