Don’t see arrange icon in name mode

when I open dir or file from some application software
(like Quark xpress, Photoshop)I don’t see the dir/file
in name mode(right click on mouse>arrange icon>by name)butI have always seen in date mode,but when
I arrange icon in name mode then it shown otherwise it was shown
in date mode.It happens in some computers.other computers are ok.
pl suggest me
