I support an old DOS based DbaseIII+ multi-user application on a Windows NT network. If a user accesses this application from a Windows 98 client while it is in use by someone else the user is either locked out or experiences file locking errors during operation. However, this does not occur if multiple users access this from Windows NT 4.0 or Win 95 Clients.
The Error that occurs most often is:
Sharing violation reading drive K
Abort, Retry, Fail?
(drive K is the default mapping whereDbase & the application reside)
This seems to be a DOS error not Dbase because it is not listed in the DBase3+ manual as a known error and it resembles a DOS read/write error. Any Ideas?
The Windows 98 Clients are 2nd Edition ver. 4.10.2222 A
The Windows NT Clients are Ver. 4.00.1381
The Windows NT Network is Ver. 4.0 service pack 6a
