DOS printouts

In both Win2000 and XP, while using a dedicated printer connected to printer port 1, the printer will spool for 15 seconds before printing no matter how the printer is set. I have tried every possible combination of printer and port settings but still have the same problem. In Windows NT their was a setting for “DO NOT SPOOL DOS PRINT JOBS”, this is what I need.
