Dot Matrix Printers Pause in ME and XP

I’ve had this happen at several customer sites now. When using ME or XP and printing to a Dot Matrix printer from a DOS based program (and, as I understand them Windows products also) half of hte first page prints, the printer then pauses for about20 seconds and then the rest of job gets printed.

Anyone else see this happening? Any idea what causes it? How can it be resolved?
