Im running Win 98, IE 6, using cable
-Whenever I try to download anything, 2 things happen:
1- The File download box appears immediately, showing the files being downloaded(flying through the air). The box that lets me choose, ‘download to current location’, or ‘save to disk’, never appears.
2 – After maybe 4 seconds of that, I get an error message that says, ‘IE cannot download from www.’whateverwebsite’.com. ‘IE was not able to open internet site. The requested sit is either unavailable, or cannot be found”. This happens ever time.
My “Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins” is enabled
My “Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting” is enabled
My “Active scripting” is also enabled
– Ive run the IR repair tool, loweredmy Internet Security, run all the usual suspects (defrag, disk scan, anti-virus, etc). I dont have MS RegClean 1.4a installed, and most of the things that would help, need to be downloaded. Ive tried right clicking, then ‘save target as’, but jumps right to the File download box, then the error message. My JIT compiler for virtual machine is checked. Ive spent hours combing the Microsoft site for help, and cant seem to find anything. Thanks for your help…..Melissa
