Dr Sols Virusscan and HP 895C conflict

Hi, We use NT 4 SP 4 with DR Solomons VirusScan v4.5.0, after installation of the virusscan any workstation that has a HP Deskjet 895C Printer runs really slow. Ive contacted HP and Network Associates but have not got a fix. Anybody heard of this problem and do you have a fix?
