drivers that dont belong to anything.

I have a Compaq runnung w98. “Ghost drivers” are appearing and hendering the proformance of the DC-Rom. CompUSA technical support claims this it is a common problem. Where I work, we only work on Dell’s so I am out of the loop on this one. My question is where are these drivers comming from. I can remove them and the CD-Rom works untill another erroneous driver shows up.
