Drives Reinstallation

My Windows XP Home edition has been very slow in opening. l cleaned it up and later found that the DVD/CD-Rom drive and WAN-miniport (ATW) #2 were all uninstalled. l tried reinstalling it but it would not. What do l do? l am not a computer expert. Thank you.
