I am trying to dual boot my computer with windows xp and 95. windows xp was preloaded and I don’t have the disc, but I have the windows 95 disc. I am using partion magic and bootmagic, i have created a 2GB FAT logical partition for windows 95 to be installed on, and when i boot i can go onto that partition using boot magic and use an ms-dos boot disc to get into dos.
my problem is, dos doesn’t recognise my cd-rom drive and gives an “invalid drive specification” error. this means i can’t runsetup on the windows 95 cd and i can’t install it. I have looked around and found that I need to load the drivers for my toshiba sd-r1102 cd-rom drive and a file called mscdex.exe . I have downloaded the driver and installed it. i used a mscdex.exe file that i got off the windows 95 cd and then when that failed i downloaded a more recent one. it still doesn’t work and i’m out of ideas.
If anyone could help it would be much appreciated. Thanks
