Dear Sirs:
The issue I’m adressing here, goes as follows:
I own this wonderful piece of hardware, namely, the “ASUS P2B-DS” mainboard.I want to be able to upgrade this mainboard with more powerfull processors, overcoming the current limitationof the Slot1. Therefore, and after being informed that there was no problem, I bought two “ASUS S-370DL FC-PGA Slockets” for future upgrades. After having appealled for ASUS support (to no avail up until now!), I decided to adress some Internet sites, including the european VNUNET test labs, without any conclusive replies. The main issue is not the BX chipset but rather the inability of some FCPGA CPUs to run in dual processor mode.? After consulting Intel’s site, I became aware of Intel’s newVRM 8.4, so I wondered how could I be sure that the “ASUS S-370DL” slocket, complied with this new voltage regulator version. Anyway, my question is: does SMP depend upon the BX chipset, the FC-PGA processors or any other issues?
