Dual speakers in W2K

I’m running Windows 2000 & have a set of speakers conected to my sound card and they worked fine. Recently, I purchased a new set of speakers connecting via USB. After plugging the USB speakers in, the original speakers stopped working. If I remove the USB speakers, my original ones work.
My questions is how can I get both sets to work simoultaneously?
