We are having a problem with our Windows 2000 Professional desktops. Here is some background on our issue:
We are running a DHCP server on an NT 4.0 server. We currently have a duel gateway setup in the scope. The 2000 desktops pick up all theinformation correctly including, IP address, Default Gateway, WINS server, and DNS Servers. For a while all routing will work fine but then the 2000 desktops will switch to the second gateway instead of using the first that is specified. We are running a mix of Win9x, NT 4.0, and W2k Desktops and the only ones that do this is the W2K installs.
At first I thought it had to do with a dead gateway issue but I have run tests and the gateway is not failing. We also have noticed the same type of behavior with the DNS servers. The W2K desktops will start using the second specified DNS Server for resolution.
Does anyone have any ideas? Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric
