DUN VERY SLOW

Environment:: C266, 256mb ram, 13gb HD 8gb FRee, USR 56k Modem, WinNT SP6A.
IE 5.5 Eudora 5.1, WinNT Dialup Networking.

Reloaded WinNt / new modem – accessing emails the system freezes for some 1-3minutes due download of email and even worse during download of data files.

Any ideas on how to trace the cause of this or better still fix it.
