Duplicate email

I am using outlook express 5. I am sharing a email account with my fellow worker. I set it to leave a copy on the server in the advance option. Both of us are getting the emails but we are also getting duplicates. How can we solve this kind of problem? We need to get the same email anytime but we don’t want duplicates. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
