DVD clicks and will not play DVD’s

Is there a way to find out what is wrong with my DVD player? I have a Pioneer DVD-114 dvd player and it just stopped playing DVD’s. I can play Audio cd’s and Data cd’s (Games) with out any problems. When I put a dvd in the drive it will click a few times then stop and I will get a no cd in drive error if I try run the dvd again. I am using PowerDVD 3.0 for playing dvd’s. There is no region lock on the drive and I will play older DVD’s at times. Should I just pitch it and get another dvd? I alsohave a Liteon cd-rw installed but the problem started before that install.
