DVD drives not showing up in CMOS

On a recent PC build I have installed a single SATA HD and two DVD
optical drives. Unfotunately, regardless of proper hardware
configuration, I can’t see to get the optical drives to be recognized by
the CMOS. The two DVD drives are recognized upon boot up (by both
name and serial #), but once in CMOS there is no recognition of them as
IDE master and slave. I’m kinda stuck here, but at the same time I really
want to understand and learn from this snag. Any info. would be
greatly, greatly apprerciated. Thanks.
